How we work with schools

"Nicola ran some Forest school sessions at our alternative provision. The children all loved the activities and it sparked our passion for outdoor learning so much we trained our own staff to run our own sessions twice a week. We learned lots from Nicola and will always remember her for inspiring us all!" - Ali Martin (Headteacher)

Whether it’s: regular Forest School sessions, school trips, WOW days, intervention groups or ‘one-off’ treats, we can tailor your Forest School experience to fit your school and your children. We can even help you establish a Forest School or Outdoor Learning area on your school site.

We strongly believe in the right of all children to have access to natural environments to play, explore and develop.

Did you know that Forest Friends Forest School sessions fit the criteria for both Pupil Premium funding and Sports Premium?

Forest school is wonderful way to enable children to play in a natural environment, learn to take risks, and become more creative, with the support of qualified, experienced staff. It can be easily linked to a creative curriculum approach, and integrated into lots of subjects and topics.

Forest Friends is run by a qualified primary school teacher with years of experience. We understand how schools work and we want to work with you!

Schools we are working with or have worked with: Summerhill Academy, Bromley Heath Junior School, St George C of E Primary School, The Nest (part of the Cabot Learning Federation).

Specialist groups.

Do you have children that struggle within the confines of a classroom?

Do you have students with ADHD? Emotional, social or behavioural difficulties? Children who have little or no access to wild, natural spaces?

Forest school can help!

We specialise in running groups for children with emotional, social and behavioural difficulties. We have recently worked successfully with Bristol's only PRU for Primary aged children with great feedback from them and the staff!

Numerous studies and research has proven how time spent in natural environments help children and young people to develop physically, socially and emotionally. Roe et.al. (2011) proved that children with extreme behaviour and mental health problems improved their mood, controlled and reduced their anger and were able to be more reflective after taking part in Forest School.
